Mike began his financial planning career in 1999, and has been a CFP® professional since 2006. In his role as advisor, he recognizes the positive impact he can have in his clients’ lives, and appreciates the trust they place in him. Clients especially rely on Mike as they prepare for, transition to, and live through retirement. He carefully arranges their investments, attempting to provide for the right balance of growth potential and preservation of principal. When income is needed, he makes recommendations for how to draw from accounts, paying special attention to the income tax implications of these strategies. Mike’s clients know that they have a partner for the long run, as they meet with him regularly for reviews, and contact him as needed to address their questions and concerns.
As he gets older, Mike finds that he can draw on his growing experience to benefit clients. He will celebrate 29 years of marriage in 2022, has three children, and understands the challenge of balancing current needs with planning for the future. Two of his children have graduated from college, and one is currently a senior, so he has personally grappled with the problem of how to save for and pay for higher education. And, after his father died in 2010, he assisted his mother with managing her finances and personal care, until her death in 2019.
As the son of an Air Force officer, Mike lived all over the world as he was growing up, from West Germany to Georgia to Okinawa to Nebraska. After graduating from Miami University (where they met), he and his wife, Jannette, have been happy to call Cincinnati home. They live in Mt. Washington, and are active parishioners at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish. Their daughter, Rachel, recently earned her PhD in economics from Syracuse University and will work for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. Their older son, Jason, just graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Northwestern University (what's next is TBD), and their younger son, Jesse, is majoring in photojournalism at Ohio University. Though spread out now, technology keeps them all connected! As a family, they love to travel to new and interesting places. Favorites have been Yellowstone, the Florida Keys (and Everglades), Acadia, and beaches from North Carolina to the Florida gulf coast. Having completed four marathons in his younger days, Mike now runs less often and less far, but is grateful for the chance to keep going.
